About
Soraya Matos was born and educated in Caracas, Venezuela, where she graduated from the Universidad Metropolitana. Even though she had a vocation for teaching she ended up obtaining a bachelors in Computer Science. In the year 2000, she moved to the USA with her husband and three children looking for a better future.
Shortly thereafter, Soraya started working at a small private school in Florida. Initially in the IT department but soon in the classroom teaching Mathematics to middle and high school students.
In the year 2004 Soraya attended Nova Southeastern University (NSU) and obtained a Masters in Education. After some years in the classroom she accepted a position as school principal position at a special education private school.
As a principal for twelve years, Soraya had the chance to construct a school from “scratch.” She successfully produced internal policies and procedures, obtained proper curricula for the diverse population, hired the best professionals possible, ensured compliance with private and government requirements, maintained a scholarship program, and created all the necessary conditions to ensure accreditation by AISF, a nationwide organization that accredits schools. All of these with a tight budget.
Recently Soraya made an extremely hard decision: to leave her position as a principal. Fortunately, she is now ready to use her long experience and knowledge to help other schools, workplaces, and organizations.
